Trigger Point Therapy

Improve muscle action and help resolve muscular pain referral.

A trigger point is a hyper irritable painful spot which manifests as a palpable nodule in a taut band of muscle. Trigger points may reveal themselves in the body as:

  • dull aches and tenderness

  • stiffness and tension

  • involuntary muscle contraction

  • localised weakness

  • sharp referral type pain

Trigger point therapy involves a process of compression and release on these sore hyper irritable sites in an effort to desensitize them by deactivating the neural feedback loop.

There is often a significant lowering in pain response after the first treatment.

Chronic long term conditions tend to significantly subside or resolve after 4 to 6 treatments; best followed up by a 'maintenance' sessions every 4 or so weeks depending on the individual and their needs.

Regular sessions are a great way to 'tune-up' the muscular system and help facilitate overall health and well being.

Myofascial Release

For freedom of muscular restrictions and better range of motion.

Myofascial release (MFR) involves the application of firm, slow and sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue to aid in restoration of smooth muscular motion and reduction of muscular aches and pains.

Myofascia is a thin sheath of connective tissue which covers every muscle and organ in the body from top to toe and serves as a type of "shock suspension" for the body. Optimally it glides smoothly in muscle action but can become "locked up" due to dehydration or injury and create a feeling of tension and achiness.

MFR may greatly reduce the feeling of stiffness and discomfort in muscles and tendons with the flow-on effect to joints and used effectively in treatment of:

  • Aches from sporting pursuits

  • Chronic neck and back pain

  • Chronic shoulder and Hip restrictions

  • Plantar Fascitis

  • Nerve pain - especially where nerves have become entrapped by hypertonic muscles.

Myofascial Cupping

For freedom of muscular restrictions and better range of motion.

Myofascial cupping is a technique applied to the soft tissue that involves suction via specially crafted cups that create a vacuum effect to underlying connective tissues and muscle, blood and fluids.  It may be very effective in releasing restrictions in tissue and facilitating the bodies innate healing mechanisms.

Very effective in treatment of many conditions some of which include:

  • Tension Type Headaches

  • Upper and Lower postural dysfunction of back

  • Lower back pain

Relaxation Massage

Soothing to the central nervous system and alleviates mental, emotional and physical stress on the body.

Relaxation massage involves the application of long, gentle strokes and circular motions to effectively quiet an overstimulated central nervous system and facilitate the release of 'feel good' hormones such as Oxytocin and Seratonin into the blood stream that may induce feelings of contentment and well-being.

Can incorporate warmed aromatic oils to further adding to the feelings of enjoyment and stimulation of the olfactory senses.

There is a long range of potential benefits from this form of massage, including:

  • reduced muscle tension

  • improved circulation

  • stimulation of the lymphatic system & may strengthen immune system

  • reduction of stress hormone

  • increased joint mobility & flexibility

  • improved skin

  • improved recovery of soft tissue injuries

  • heightened mental alertness

  • reduced symptoms of anxiety & depression

  • better sleep
